IDOJ-The Show
IDOJ was created by Sidney Sheldon who was an author, he passed away Jan, 2007. The shows first episode aired on September 1965. The show consists of 5 seasons, equaling a total of 139 episodes, 30 of them were originally made in black & white, because NBC did not want to pay the extra costs involving in making a colored 30 episodes-now those episodes which were originally aired in black & white are available to the public in both black/white & color. The show was inspired by the movies; Brass Bottle which also started Barbara Eden. The creator of IDOJ (Sidney Sheldon) did not want a blond female playing the Jeannie role because it would be to similar to the Bewitched star-Elizabeth Montgomery (Samantha Stevens). Sidney auditioned several big dark haired females, all which were tall none fit the image that Sidney had. When Barbara got the script she thought it was send out to get by mistake, but later found it she got the role & she was overwhelmed of joy.
All Jeannie bottles were painted on 1964 Jim beam bottle, 1st season bottle has Old Grand Dad stopper from 1956 OGD bottle, 2nd-5th seasons bottle has an original 1964 stopper. Barbara Eden (Jeannie) has the original prop used 2nd-5th season bottle, no one knows how many more are out there.
One of Jeannie's worn harem costumes is kept in a Museum, the costume was able to be seen by the public, but no longer is-probably locked away because of its age (being over 40 years old!). Jeannie wore pink Taj shoes in the series, her evil sister wore same style shoes (with circle & triangle heel) but in green color.
Later Years
Following the huge success of IDOJ reruns, 2 Jeannie movies were made; I dream of Jeannie: 15 years later (1985) & I Still Dream of Jeannie (1991). . Both movies did not star Larry Hagman because Larry Hagman had a dispute over the pay, being so successful with Dallas, Larry wanted high pay. The movies had a low budge, producers could not meet his demands, therefore Larry Hagman did not star in the 2 movies.
Where are they now?
-Barbara Eden performs in a play called: Love Letters, her latest performance was in Florida on 28th February, it is unkown whether when, if ever she will be staring in the play.
,-Bill Daily lives in Albuquerque. Bill daily no longer works as a guest host on KBQI 107.9 radio station,
-Larry Hagman occasionally makes quest appearances, but is taking some time off.
